CAiSE'17 Doctoral Consortium: Call for papers

The CAiSE’17 Doctoral Consortium will be the 24th Doctoral Consortium of a series held in conjunction with the CAiSE conference series. It is intended to bring together PhD students working on foundations, techniques, tools and applications of Information Systems Engineering and provide them with an opportunity to present and discuss their research to an audience of peers and senior faculty in a supportive environment, as well as to participate in a number of plenary sessions with Information Systems academics.

Goals

  • To provide fruitful feedback and advice to the selected PhD students on their research project

  • To provide the opportunity to meet experts from different backgrounds working on topics related to the Information Systems Engineering field

  • To interact with other PhD students and stimulate an exchange of ideas and suggestions among participants

  • To provide the opportunity to discuss concerns about research, supervision, the job market, and other career-related issues

To be eligible for the Doctoral Consortium, the candidate must be a current doctoral student within a recognized university. Ideally, the candidate should have at least 6-12 months of work remaining before expected completion (and at least 12 months of work already performed).

Important Dates

Paper Submission deadline: 20 March 2017
Notification of Acceptance: 17 April 2017
Camera ready for all papers: 01 May 2017
CAiSE Doctoral Consortium: 14-16 June 2017

Why submit to the CAiSE 2017 Doctoral Consortium?

  • The CAiSE 2017 Doctoral Consortium will be attended by prominent professors in the field of Information Systems Engineering who will actively participate as mentors to each doctoral student presenting a paper in the Doctoral Consortium.

  • Accepted papers will be published in the CEUR proceedings (http://ceur-ws.org/).

  • Roel Wieringa will provide an introduction to design science methodology for all PhD students participating to the Doctoral Consortium.

  • Authors of accepted Doctoral Consortium papers will benefit from a reduced registration fee, which will also enable them to attend the main CAiSE conference, and all associated social events.

  • Also, this submission might allow you (in case of acceptance) to candidate for a future CAiSE PhD Award after your viva.

Submission Process

Submissions must be made electronically in PDF format by the stated deadline via the EasyChair conference system: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=caise2017dc.

Submissions must be single-author, but the name of the supervisor should be mentioned within the paper. The language of the consortium is English. All submitted materials must be in English. Attendees must have sufficient proficiency in English to allow them to participate in the academic discussions of the Consortium.

Submission Guidelines

The paper must:

  • clearly formulate the research question

  • identify a significant problem in the field of research

  • outline the current status of the problem domain and related solutions

  • present clearly any preliminary ideas, the proposed approach and the results achieved so far

  • describe the research methodology that is applied or planned

  • outline the contributions of the applicant’s work to the problem domain

  • highlight their uniqueness

  • conform to the Springer LNCS format (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html)

  • contain less than 4000 words (approx. 8 pages in LNCS style)

Each submitted paper will be reviewed by two members of the Doctoral Consortium Program Committee. The main evaluation criteria are: relevance, originality, significance, technical soundness, accuracy, and clarity.
